When you got limes, make…

Hi guys!

I hope you are having a great Tuesday and are happily moving through your week. I know it’s no longer Monday, but did you have a good weekend? Mine was very chilled out with plenty of time at home, hanging out with Alan, and getting chores done, as well as a relaxing afternoon catch up with friends and a leisurely wander around Fremantle with a yummy smoothie.

Speaking of yummy drinks, today I want to share a delicious, alkalising and super refreshing drink that i ADORE! It is, in fact, a variation on a variation of an old time classic! We start with lemonade, we vary it to limenade and then “healthify” it to an ultra yummy, cleanse-supportive drink that I have termed  Lime-Ade.

Yum yum yum. So here’s the insider info on Lime-Ade in ten key points to get you lime’ing it up:

1. It’s super refreshing
2. It’s incredibly alkalising due to the lime juice (although limes are classed as an acidic fruit, they have an alkalising effect on the body, which supports the body’s naturally alkaline design…or it’s naturally alkaline design when it is full of energy and health! Acidity equals poor health, alkalinity equals good health!)
3. It’s sweet and fresh and therefore a great replacement for lemonade fanatics
4. It takes you back to the old school days of making your own lemonade with fresh lemons (although it is limes in this instance!)
5. You can use the exact same recipe but with lemons if you prefer a more traditional lemonade replacement
6. It’s an awesome first drink of the day to alkalise your body after it’s acid collecting while fasting overnight during sleep (yes, the alkalising did bear repeating yet again – it’s that important!), and to get you raring to go for your day ahead
7. It’s super hydrating and delicious without the drawbacks of traditional lemonade with carbonation (which might make the drink fizzy but also makes you fizzy…with gas), and loads of refined, white sugar
8. If you don’t like plain water, this is an awesome alternative. Try herbal teas too (ideally not green as it still contains caffeine)
9. It’s a great drink to serve at barbecues, brunches, lunches, and to replace alcoholic drinks with something that is truly healthy but not just plain old water
10. It can be dressed up and varied in any number of ways to make it more exciting and suited to your tastes. Think cucumber slices, lemon slices, lime slices, a mix of lemon and lime juice, even grapefruit slices or grapefruit juice. Throw in some fresh slices strawberries, add some ice, blend it with some ice to make a slushie, add pour it over chopped fruit like a punch, serve it in wine glasses with umbrellas and straws, or take it out with you for the day to sip on to your heart’s content. There are so many variations and possibilities for Lime-Ade.

And the best thing is, it takes literally less than a couple of minutes to make!

Just before I share the recipe, a quick reminder that there is only two days left to take advantage of the June sale on my Get VITAL! eBook, which is half price, and to bag yourself a free 30 minute coaching session with any nutritional/detox/raw foods consultation you book. Yep, there’s no exra charge but a whole lot more support, motivation and guidance in there for you. Full details of the sale and the link to pick up your gifts is here.

So, without further ado, say a big hello to the Lime-Ade goodness! And bby the way, this is a winner in any weather in my opinion. It doesn’t need to be a hot day to enjoy this baby.

Cool, refreshing Lime-Ade

(All I can think of when I say Lime-Ade is old 50s advertisement posters with gorgeous curvy women in polka dot full-briefed bikinis leaning seductively over a red Cadillac and “innocently” touching her full luscious lips while enjoying a cool drink. Is it just me who thinks such things?)

Juice of 2 limes (you can use more if you like)
1 litre of water (approximately 32 ounces)

Stevia to taste but try starting with a half tablespoon of liquid stevia and working up from there. I like more than that as I like a really sweet. It tastes so indulgent! I recommend the Nu Naturals brand of stevia for this recipe. It is by far the best tasting stevia product in my opinion, and trust me, I’ve tried many!

You can order it from iHerb if you can’t get it locally (Aussie readers, unfortunately you will need to order it from the US so I recommend iHerb for its reasonable prices and shipping times).

All you need to do is add your lime juice, water and stevia to a big jug and give it a quick stir. Voila – you now have Lime-Ade! So simple and easy!

Now you can add lime slices or ice if you like, or any of the other extras mentioned above. Or just enjoy it straight up as I mostly do.

I hope you try some healthy Lime-Ade or the same recipe but with lemons to make some Lemonade a la detox.

Happy drinking!
Casey
