<p>More than ever before, I am driven to get the message of just how healthy, happy and fulfilled you can feel &#8211; in your body and your life &#8211; to as many willing men and women as possible. <p>Of course as I am travelling right now, it means paying plenty of attention to what goes in my body and how I treat myself so that I stay healthy and energetic with my packed schedule. Here are my top 5 secrets to feeling awesome when travelling&#8230;</p>
<p><strong>1. Pack, make or buy green vegetable juice at every opportunity.</strong></p>
<p>If you have been reading my blog for a while or have ever connected with me, you&#8217;ll know green juice is my daily life-blood. I will do everything in my power to get green juice into my diet every day. There are places this doesn&#8217;t happen (like when I was in the middle of the Arizona desert last week at Eden Hot Springs) but I can count on one hand how many times I have compromised my daily juice when travelling&#8230;and I travel a lot.</p>

<p><strong>2. Pack an <a href="http://www.healthandyoga.com/asp/ap/redir.aspx?id=BV2716&amp;bid=91790">enema kit</a> or book in for colonics at your location.</strong></p>
<p>Travel can be extremely constipating. Even the healthiest of bowels can slow down dramatically with air travel, lots of sitting, time zone, climate, diet and hydration changes, new routines (or no routine),  and so on. Keeping things moving out of you is essential for maintaining high energy and helping your body to adjust to all the new circumstances you face when you travel without backing you up.</p>
<p>Constipation is not fun and will lead to sickness and fatigue if not remedied. Use your enema kit or book in for a colonic or two. You will then be ready to dance the night away (while still fitting your jeans)!</p>
<p><strong>3. Hydrate.</strong></p>
<p>It sounds simple but it can be very easy when you are out of routine to drink less than your body normally likes. Between having inconsistent access to high quality water sources, having to carry it with you, and not having a regular schedule, your water consumption can drop dramatically. And so too will your health, energy and happiness.</p>
<p>Hydration is critical. Drink a litre of water (32 oz) before you eat breakfast every day while travelling, sip on herbal teas and water every time you stop, drink a glass of water before you eat each meal or snack (ideally 10 minutes before or more) and always plan for high quality water to be ready and waiting for you in the morning at your accommodation.</p>
<p><strong>4. Eat fresh vegetables.</strong></p>
<p>Another simple one but also easy to overlook when travelling. It&#8217;s naturally more challenging to find the beautiful, fresh salads you might make yourself at home for every meal when you don&#8217;t have your kitchen or favourite grocery store to work with, but you can order side salads, buy fresh vegetables to take out to restaurants or on the road with you, or make chopped salads or eat whole vegetables with avocado in your accommodation. I do at least one of the above every day of my travels. It keeps me hydrated, eating alkaline and feeling energetic.</p>
<p><strong>5. Move every day.</strong></p>
<p>Travelling is the perfect opportunity to get outside and move daily with new sights and landscapes to see and explore. I adore walking across entire cities or exploring Mother Nature in all her glory in smaller towns or rural locations. A rest day here and there with plenty of functional movement plus bike ride or walking tours, local hikes and new fitness classes if you fancy it makes for an active travel experience that will keep you feeling your best.</p>

<p>After many days of no sleep and what seems like countless flights, I arrived in New York City last week and have been settling in since.</p>
<p>I had the pleasure of attending a launch night in NYC last week where I got to meet in person some of my online business and health friends who I have interacted with and/or worked with for the past few years. Among them, Marie Forleo, Kris Carr, Gabrielle Bernstein, Danielle LaPorte, Tara Stiles and Muneeza Ahmed.</p>

<p>There&#8217;s nothing like a sweet, creamy raw ice cream recipe to please the crowds (or eat all by yourself). The recipe I have to share with you today is one of my very favourites for many reasons:</p>
<ul>
<li>It&#8217;s made only with the highest quality, clean ingredients</li>
<li>It&#8217;s insanely delicious</li>
<li>It digests beautifully even with the fruit and fat combination (because of the low sugar fruit and high water content in the avocado)</li>
<li> It uses stevia as the primary sweetener other than the berries. Stevia is an ideal sweetener if you are trying to lose weight, helps to balance blood sugar levels and diabetic conditions and doesn&#8217;t feed candida overgrowth in the body</li>
<li>It&#8217;s simple and easy to make &#8211; you will be eating it in 5 minutes flat</li>
<li>It uses avocado, an incredible healthy fat, and raspberries with their very high antioxidant and vitamin content</li>
<li>Kids, partners and friends love it</li>
<li>It transports you to a sexy Italian holiday location with gelato, the Mediterranean and the passionate dialect of beautiful Italian men and women. Or maybe that&#8217;s just me? <img src='http://www.caseylorraine.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_wink.gif' alt=';)' class='wp-smiley' /> </li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Raspberry Sorbet</strong></p>
<p><em>Ingredients:</em></p>
<p>1 large avocado</p>
<p>Juice of 1 lime (or more)</p>
<p>2 cups of frozen raspberries</p>
<p>1 teaspoon vanilla extract</p>
<p>15 drops of NuNaturals stevia (add more as desired – I like lots). You can use vanilla stevia if you prefer</p>
<p>Optional extras for toppings: fresh or frozen whole raspberries, freeze dried berries or other fruits, high quality 70% plus dark or raw chocolate chopped into pieces</p>
<p><em>Directions:</em></p>
<p>Put all ingredients together in a food processor fitted with the “S” blade or into a high speed blender like a Vitamix or Blendtec. Add the berries into the processor straight from the freezer so they add the icy effect.</p>
<p>Process until the mixture is only just well combined as you don’t want to lose the ice cream consistency and turn it into a liquid…although this does make a great shake too!</p>
<p>Serve with toppings of choice and lick up every last drop while dreaming of sunshine and sea!</p>

<p>A question I get every week, even daily, is how to make fresh vegetable juice. Today I am sharing with you the two main ways to make juice so that all you need to do is actually put it into action. Now, preferably <img class="wlEmoticon wlEmoticon-smile" style="border-style: none;" src="http://www.caseylorraine.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/04/wlEmoticon-smile.png" alt="Smile" />.</p>
<p><strong>Big exciting heads <a href="http://www.caseylorraine.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/04/Fruit-and-veg-juices.jpg"><img class="alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-2667" title="Fruit and veg juices" src="http://www.caseylorraine.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/04/Fruit-and-veg-juices-150x150.jpg" alt="" width="150" height="150" /></a>up:</strong> the Get Juicy cleanse has had a makeover and it is seriously better than ever! If you are looking forward to lots of chocolate and social gatherings this long weekend for Easter (or just because!), but are dreading the bumpy skin, wobbly thighs and round middle that you can feel coming right along with it, then stay tuned for the big reveal on Tuesday – it’s perfect for a post Easter tune up to get you into hotter shape in the most nourishing way, and fast too!</p>
<p>There are two main ways to make juice, depending on the equipment you have. It is not essential to buy expensive juicers or blenders. If you already have a simple juicer or blender, you can simply use that in conjunction with a nut milk bag (or muslin cloth) for easy, fast, pulp/fibre-free juices.</p>
<p>Juicers are machines specifically made to separate out the liquids from the solids of produce such as fruits and vegetables, whereas blenders are more versatile machines that can be used to blend into a liquid/puree anything from soups to smoothies to baby foods.</p>
<p>I’ve juiced using juicers, and using a blender combined with a nut milk bag to separate out the fibre, and get great juices using either method. From a nutritional perspective, the more expensive juicers usually provide a higher quality of juice, as they don’t get as heated or oxidised from the machine.</p>
<p>The main difference in the two methods from a practical standpoint is in the preparation and clean up involved. When using a juicer, you can often just grab the produce and start juicing, with a minimum of cutting beforehand, whereas when using the blender method it’s best to cut down all produce before adding it to the blender.</p>
<p>On the other hand, there tends to be more clean-up time involved with juicers and less with blenders. If you happen to have access to both a juicer and blender, then you can use this knowledge to your advantage. If, for example, you have 5 minutes to juice before you need to get out of the house, it might be a better choice to run the things quickly through the juicer and deal with the clean-up later (although cleaning up straight away is always easiest!).</p>
<p><strong>How To Juice</strong></p>
<p>When using organics, there is no need to remove the skin from your foods, as it contains many nutrients that are beneficial. Only peel your fruits and vegetables if they are conventional (not organic). If you are using a high powered blender like a Vita-Mix or Blendtec in combination with straining through a nut milk bag, you can keep the seeds of your fruits in too, as these will be strained out. When using a juicer or less powerful blender, consult your user’s manual for removing seeds from various fruits before juicing.</p>
<p><strong>With A Juicer:</strong></p>
<p>Cut all your produce into pieces that will fit into your juicer before you start juicing. This makes the whole process easier and smoother. Feed the produce through the juicer chute one at a time. The liquid of the produce will be separated from the pulp/fibre. You drink the juice and watch your health and energy transform!</p>
<p><strong>With A Blender and Nut Milk Bag:</strong></p>
<p>Chop all the produce you intend to blend into pieces. If you’re using a high-powered blender, you will not need to cut things very small. With a less powerful machine, it’s better to chop into small pieces.</p>
<p>Depending on the size and power of your blender, you might also want to start with small batches, adding water or coconut water to the chopped produce, to help with the breakdown of the food. Adding enough water to cover the blades of the machine is usually adequate to get things going.</p>
<p>Blend the foods for the shortest amount of time possible, to avoid heating the produce and increasing oxidisation – just long enough to ensure the produce is completely liquefied.</p>
<p>Place the nut milk bag over the opening of a jug or a mixing bowl (it’s helpful if it is wide or deep enough to get both hands in for squeezing the bag). Once you have liquefied the produce, pour it into the nut milk bag in batches and squeeze. You will feel like you are milking a cow <img class="wlEmoticon wlEmoticon-winkingsmile" style="border-style: none;" src="http://www.caseylorraine.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/04/wlEmoticon-winkingsmile.png" alt="Winking smile" />.</p>
<p>Discard the dry pulp afterwards and enjoy the juice as soon as possible after.</p>
<p>Fresh juice is always best but if the only way you can get your juice in is to make it well in advance, then go for it. Keep it in an airtight container, as cold as possible (you can even freeze it and drink it as it defrosts) and drink it as soon as you can and feel hungry for it – don’t force it done just for freshness sake.</p>
<p>That, my friends, is how you make juice!</p>

<p>Yesterday I stacked it (Aussie code for “fell over”) while going up some stairs holding a giant green juice and a giant French cake (the former for me, the latter for my mum).</p>
<p>My long skirt got caught under my foot and I fell forward cutting up various body parts. Both the juice and cake went flying. I even put my knee through the cake as I landed to make sure it was extra squashed.</p>
<p>Universe, what message were you telling me? Surely the green juice cancelled out the cake?</p>
<p>Maybe if I had been holding the Quinoa Sprout Salad I’m about to share with you today in the other hand, instead of the French cake, I would have gracefully flowed up those stairs and back to the safe cup holder and slightly more even surfaces of my car.</p>
<p>This salad is incredibly easy to make and highly nutritious. It uses a delicious combination of fresh, hydrating, enzyme-rich live sprouts and veggies and the comfort of cooked quinoa to provide a wonderful dinner.</p>
<p>Top it with some omega 3 rich oil and avocado slices plus seasoning and you have yourself an experience, not just a dinner. I ate mine on my patio staring at the surfers…err ocean. <p>Now for today’s recipe yumminess!</p>
<p><strong>Easy Quinoa Sprout Salad</strong></p>
<p><em>Ingredients:</em></p>
<p>Big handful of each: sunflower sprouts, snow pea sprouts, alfalfa sprouts, broccoli sprouts</p>
<p>1 carrot, finely sliced</p>
<p>1 beetroot, finely sliced</p>
<p>1 clove raw garlic, chopped</p>
<p>1 cup of quinoa, soaked for 12 hours and rinsed</p>
<p>Squeeze of lime juice</p>
<p>1 tablespoon hemp oil (optional)</p>
<p>1/2 an avocado (optional)</p>
<p>Sea salt, black pepper and dried herbs to taste <strong></strong></p>
<p>Directions:</p>
<p>1. Cook the quinoa as per the directions.</p>
<p>2. Spoon the quinoa into a bowl and top with the sprouts, sliced beetroot and carrot and then the optional avocado slices.</p>
<p>3. Pour over the top the lime juice, oil and add your seasonings. Serve as is or toss thoroughly to disperse the flavours. Adjust seasonings and devour!</p>

<p align="center"><span style="font-size: xx-small;">My beloved green juice</span></p>
<p>On day 2 I was hungry. I was at workshops all day and was fine until late afternoon when hunger struck. I had plenty of green juice earlier in the day but when my day went much longer than planned the hunger kicked in.</p>
<p>The first few days of juice fasting or even lighter eating can bring some hunger as you adjust. In these moments I recommend drinking more juice, or if you are out like I was, find a juice bar, take more juice with you than you’ll expect you need and/or drink plenty of water, herbal tea or whatever liquids you can to get you through.</p>
<p>Organisation is key to succeeding with a juice fast unless you have a juice delivery company that can prepare your juices for you so you can simply purchase, pack and go.</p>
<p><span id="more-2555"></span></p>
<p>I also suggest doing one or more enemas and/or colonics in the first few days of juice fasting to release the waste being drawn up. This will help keep symptoms of detoxification at bay and help to quell cravings.</p>
<p>I’ve also noticed that with everything happening in my personal life, there are some emotions coming up. Allowing your emotions to come up, acknowledging them and then letting them go is one of my favourite and most valued parts of a fast.</p>
<p>You can do this every day no matter what your diet and lifestyle, but during a fast, when you don’t have chewing or the weight of food in your body to distract or numb you, it is a wonderful opportunity to release emotion even more.</p>
<p>This might all happen in the flash of a second, or you might need a good hour of crying and smacking your pillow or talking to a loved one. Juicing is such a wonderful way to see what is really coming up for you – it’s hard to supress and weigh yourself down on a diet of fresh juice. I had a good cry for a minute at a time at least three times yesterday <img class="wlEmoticon wlEmoticon-smile" style="border-style: none;" src="http://www.caseylorraine.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/03/wlEmoticon-smile2.png" alt="Smile" />. This is a really positive thing as crying is a biochemical and physical release.</p>
<p>Now that days 2 and 3 of the <a href="http://www.getjuicycleanse.com/">Get Juicy Cleanse</a> are over, things usually run smoother than ever. The first 3 days of cleansing are typically the most challenging. Get through this hump and you will find the process so much easier and in fact really pleasurable. You’ll especially find it easy as you watch your body, mental clarity and perspective transform!</p>

<p>Wow, technology and I sure haven’t gotten along in the last 48 hours. I moved recently and am experiencing some serious issues with my internet connection. It’s erratic, unreliable and rather frustrating when you run an internet-dependent business.</p>
<p>To say I have had a great test of my ability to stay present in the moment and be patient and thankful for every experience is a bit of an understatement. Combined with an intense work schedule, trauma and tragedy in my personal life, moving home/office and making arrangements to travel for 3 months, it’s fair to say things have been a little crazy!</p>

<p>If you have been reading my blog for some time you’ll know I am a huge fan of vegetable juicing. In fact, it’s a part of my regime every single day. Why? Because it makes me feel fantastic! My energy is strong, my moods balanced, my mind clear and I feel my best in every way when I juice.</p>
<p>In fact it’s such a huge part of my secret to feeling my very best that in the last four years I can count on one hand the days I haven’t had juice. Probably on two fingers. Yes that means there have been two days I haven’t had juice. <p>If you’ve been reading my blog for a while (hello and thank you! <img class="wlEmoticon wlEmoticon-smile" style="border-style: none;" src="http://www.caseylorraine.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/02/wlEmoticon-smile2.png" alt="Smile" />), you’ll know that I have a thing for my daily green juice. To my new readers, now you know my deep, dark secret.</p>

<p>Do I get bored? Nope. Never. A big part of that is the way I mix them up with little variations that really change the flavour. Today’s recipe is an example of that. Some others are my <a href="http://www.caseylorraine.com/2011/11/mexicana-green-juice-and-daily-juice-fast-blogging/">Mexicana Green Juice</a>, <a href="http://www.caseylorraine.com/2011/12/cinnamon-lime-green-juice-days-3-4-of-juice-feasting/">Cinnamon Lime Green Juice</a>, and <a href="http://www.caseylorraine.com/2011/10/cinnamon-spiced-chocolate-or-carob-milk-juice/">Cinnamon Spiced Carob or Chocolate Milk Juice</a>.</p>
<p>This recipe is a delicious combination of fresh mint, hot and spicy fresh chilli (love a good kick!), hydrating cucumber and celery and stevia and lime for extra flavour and sweetness. In short, it’s freaking awesome!</p>
<p>One of my favourite tips for my clients (and myself!) is to get to know your herbs. Adding fresh basil, dill, mint, thyme, oregano, coriander/cilantro, rosemary or any other favourites to your salads, dips, smoothies, juices, dressings and soups takes them from not bad, to holla!</p>
<p><strong>Chilli Mint Green Juice</strong></p>

<p>4 stalks celery</p>
<p>2 large cucumbers (peeled if not organic)</p>
<p>3 leaves of silverbeet or chard</p>
<p>4 stalks of kale</p>
<p>1 very small fresh chilli (or use less to start)</p>
<p>2 limes</p>
<p>1 small handful of mint leaves</p>
<p>1 small knob of ginger</p>
<p>Stevia to taste</p>
<p>Juice all ingredients, taste, adjust chilli and stevia and serve!</p>
<p>So delicious!</p>
